Status Update from Urjit Yagnik (Jul 2006)

Begin with developments since April end :

1. MOU has been signed!!
Director signed it. I signed it on behalf of our class.
A few more classmates will sign it.

2. Uday Sheth visited IIT on Sunday April 30.
The two of us took a tour of the Lake.
Uday’s suggestions and possible timeline :
a) About 1 km of the lake front from behind Convo upto White House
(where theroad turns towards Devi Temple and Lakeside qtrs. begin)
can be made into a nice walkway.
b) Some silted land can be recovered near the
Convo end and converted into a park / garden.

That was summary till May 2. After that people were traveling
for business and next steps should begin in July.

3. As of mid-summer I got charged as IIT faculty member
to look after the project. Hope I can manage the “double role”
without being “caught.”

4. Need to coordinate with the Institute to get the Project Manager hired.
In IIT he will be referred to as OSD = Officer on Special Duty.

5. He should recruit a Civil contractor to get the work started.
We hope this will be done latest by Aug 1.

Welcome to the IITB Class of 80 Legacy weblog!

This is where ongoing updates of the project status can be found. This site was created in early Jan 2006. Please bookmark or subscribe to a feed of this site, so you can track the ongoing development as we track the rolling out Phase 1 projects and then the Phase 2 rejuvenation plan for the entire lake. As of now we are keeping up the project momentum - an interim volunteer Project Manager has been nominated and a job description is being created for the permanent Project Manager. A lot of communication and developments have been happening even after the reunion. So stay tuned …..
